Kainuu Welfare Area / Kainuu Rescue Department is selling a decommissioned Volkswagen Passat passenger car. The engine is damaged — see section Defects and other observations and the attached file FIM-463 Pörhön Autoliike Oy.


Equipment: 2 tyres, towbar, auxiliary lights and a Webasto heater (Webasto functionality has not been checked). For technical details see attached Traficom FIM-463 file.


Inspection valid until: Feb 2026

Alarm devices, communications equipment and rescue service identifiers will be removed from the vehicle before handover and are not included in the sale. Any loose equipment in the vehicle will also be removed and is not included in the sale.


The vehicle must be collected within two weeks of the auction ending.

Defects and other observations

The car is sold with an engine fault to be repaired and is not currently roadworthy. The engine began to show symptoms at the end of November while driving, and the car has been taken to Pörhön for service. During the service cylinder compression pressures were measured and the compression pressure of the fourth cylinder is poor. The workshop has stated this is a known defect where water accumulating in the intercooler can reach the cylinder. The engine has not been opened and the full extent of the fault is unknown, but Pörhö estimates it will require at least a completely new bottom end (block, crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods, etc.). The sale listing includes Pörhö's service history in which pages 1–2 contain the repair estimate and the compression test readings (see the attached Pörhö report).


The vehicle was driven back from the workshop to the fire station but emits heavy smoke, runs unevenly, jerks severely and the running noise is abnormal. The buyer should be prepared to transport the vehicle, for example on a trailer.


The vehicle shows wear from use. It has not been subject to a technical condition inspection by us and there may be hidden defects that we did not observe during the test drive and listing.
