Spirited Octavia RS — and what mileage!

The previous owner even took the car to the MOT before trade-in and it passed without remarks. On our test drive the car felt sound, both in terms of chassis and mechanics. No warning lights are on; the engine pulls as it should, although in these conditions it can still slide a little even at higher speeds, despite the winter tyres still feeling quite good... The gearbox shifts smoothly as it should, so no unusual remarks there.

The car has an electronic service history up to 2022; according to the previous owner it has been serviced privately since then.

Not everything can be praised for a car of this age, so here are a few observations we made.

- Service warning is displayed

- Surface rust starting on both sides of the rear wheel arches; see photos.

- Rust on the lower edge of the driver's side doors.

- Of the summer tyres two are completely worn, and two are close to the legal limit.

- According to the previous owner the Webasto heater starts but then cuts out. We did not investigate this ourselves — could a faulty circulation pump cause these symptoms?

With a little tinkering this can be a nice, quick RS Octavia to drive.
